Welcome to my art blog.
Over the next few months I am going to look at drawing from a phenomenological perspective. Through my writing I hope to draw you in so you can see and appreciate what the lived experience of drawing is like for young children and myself. My focus will be upon the drawing process. When writing about drawing I am aware that I am confronted with the task of reconstructing narratives that are drawn from the language of action, of gesture, of activity, of silence, a living text. As I write about the drawing lives of children, I will try to bring the reader close to those lives so they might see the world as a child and as an artist. I will tell the drawing stories I have collected in the hope that they will paint a meaningful picture that will guide your own living with children drawing. Come on my journey with me as I tell the stories of drawing with children. I hope that I can uncover some of the mysteries of the drawing process so that you feel more able to support this important means of communication for children.
